Defining Administrative Users for Your iTunes U Site

As the primary administrator, you can define additional administrative users for your site. Defining additional site administrators allows others to help you create, edit, and manage pages within your iTunes U site.

All administrators must have a valid Apple ID. Users with existing accounts at Apple (iTunes Store, MobileMe, Apple Store, AppleCare), can use the same Apple ID or can create a new account at http://myinfo.apple.com.

To add and remove site administrators, as well as change your site’s primary administrator:

1. Log in to iTunes U as the primary administrator (using your Apple ID account and your site’s administrator signin URL).

2. Click Edit Apple ID Administrator Access in the Tools area.

3. Click the Add icon in the Site Administrators section to define a new administrator for your site.

   Administrators defined in the Edit Apple ID Administrator Access page can manage and modify the site by logging in using the administrator signin URL in the Edit Site Settings page.

   • Click the Edit icon to edit an existing administrator.

4. Type an Apple ID.

5. Click the Save icon to save the new administrator.

   • Click the Edit icon, and then click the Delete icon to delete an existing administrator.

6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each administrator you want to add to your site.

7. Choose a new primary administrator from the pop-up menu in the Primary Administrator section.

   For security reasons, only site administrators who have successfully signed in to your site at least once with the Apple ID defined in the Site Administrators section are eligible to become primary administrators. The primary administrator is the person responsible for adding and removing site administrators, as well as viewing and editing specific site settings.

8. Click Done.

   iTunes U displays a warning dialog making sure you want to transfer primary administrator access and reminding you that once you transfer access you will no longer be able to access the Edit Apple ID Administrator Access page.

9. Click OK.

   iTunes U returns you to your site’s root page and removes the Edit Apple ID Administrator Access link in the Tools area. The Edit Apple ID Administrator Access link is only available for your site’s primary administrator.

10. Click Logout.

To utilize the privileges of the primary administrator, the new primary administrator must access the iTunes U site using the site’s administrator signin URL.
